Unfortunately, your reporting does a disservice to your readers as you fail to accurately represent the specific context and identity of the victim. This omission not only undermines the severity of the incident, but also overlooks the intersectional nature of the hate crime, which is both islamophobic and anti-Palestinian.

Article downplays the situation in Gaza

These words not only dehumanize Palestinians' deaths but obscure Israel’s noncompliance with its obligations as an occupying power, which is the reason behind these deaths: failure to discriminate between civilians and combatants, and failure to allow humanitarian aid to reach civilians.  In fact, there are recent reports that Israel may be deliberately starving Palestinians.

The infrastructure for reporting antisemitism is relatively well-developed and robust because of the wide range of Canadian civil society and lobbying groups dedicated to this cause. Self-reporting methods for victims of Islamophobia and anti-Palestinian racism are far less developed, however."

Correction needed to add more information about the ongoing genocide in Gaza

"Seventy percent of the 22,000, dead and 53,000 wounded are women and children. Most of Gaza's population has been displaced, thanks to unending orders to evacuate yet again to so-called safe zones which are then bombed. The few hospitals that can still function are overwhelmed and can only provide minimal care."
