Concern over Associated Press article about "turbocharged" West Bank settlement expansion

"I take strong issue with your sentence, “Israel captured the West Bank, the Gaza Strip and east Jerusalem in the 1967 Mideast war, territories the Palestinians want for a future state.”  Using the term “captured” rather than “occupied” may mislead the reader into thinking that Israel has a strong claim to, or ownership of, these Palestinian territories. Nevertheless, such usage runs directly counter 1) to how international law views the military seizure of territory, 2) to how the international diplomatic community currently views Israel’s presence in the Palestinian territories, and 3) to how both words are understood in plain English."

Associated Press needs to clarify that Palestinians from Gaza are not fleeing, they are being forcibly displaced

"Palestinians are being forcibly displaced to areas that Israel deemed safe just to get attacked again and forcibly displaced again. As reported by BBC, “many have been displaced five or six times” already. As early as January, the UN Humanitarian chief, Martin Griffiths, called Gaza 'unhabitable.'"

CTV fails to accurately describe the situation in Shujaiya

"The reality that is not detailed in the article is that Israel has been encircling the area and that it fired shells toward several houses and destroyed houses, leaving families trapped inside and unable to leave. Palestinians don’t have food. Some have been wounded, and ambulances have not been able to reach the area."

CBC please clarify Dr. Mohammed Abu Salmiya was detained and TORTURED by Israel

"The current headline downplays Israel’s actions and doesn’t capture the core angle of the story. A significant portion of the article centers around Dr. Mohammed Abu Salmiya, the head of Gaza’s Al-Shifa hospital, who claims he was tortured, not merely abused, by the Israelis. CJPME demands that the headline be corrected to emphasize Dr. Mohammed Abu Salmiya’s claims of torture."

Why is a protest in front of a synagogue hosting a "real estate event" framed as antisemitic?

To make your article less one-sided, I ask you to add context about Gaza and the West Bank and add voices from the Pro-Palestinian protesters so that their intentions are clearly stated and not further mischaracterized.

Recent article whitewashes Israel's war crimes

"Under international law, Israel is considered an occupying power and has a responsibility of letting aid in. On top of it, Israel has closed border crossings, which is the only effective and efficient way to get aid despite multiple international calls asking Israel to open them."

Demand that AP headline mention that Palestinian man was used as "human shield"

While the article itself talked about Israel using Abadi as a human shield, the article's headline went out of its way to avoid using the term "human shield."  There are other items in the article that could be critiqued, but the failure to call out Israel's use of a human shield in the headline is the biggest issue we're focusing on.

Why is AP refusing to use the word Palestine in their reporting?

Refusing to acknowledge Palestine and its people not only perpetuates historical inaccuracies but also undermines the rights and aspirations of millions of Palestinians. It is imperative that the media recognize Palestine as a legitimate entity, acknowledging the diverse heritage and identity of the Palestinian people.

Palestinian tied to an Israeli Jeep is used as a "human shield", not only "shot and wounded"

"Clear and accurate reporting is crucial, especially when addressing violations of international humanitarian law. I, therefore, immediately urge you to change the headline to: "A wounded Palestinian was used as a human shield, beaten, and tied to an Israeli army jeep." It is essential to accurately reflect this information as it significantly shapes readers’ perceptions of the story, even if they do not read the entire article."

Article whitewashes Israel's war crimes

"All over the world, people were outraged by the horrific images of this massacre, notably the image of the headless child being held up, that circulated on social media, considering that a couple of months back Israel falsely claimed that Hamas beheaded 40 babies, which, on the contrary, sparked global outrage."
