"Shadowy hospital" in news article actually refers to an Israeli torture camp

"Using the term “patient” to refer to Palestinians who were forcibly taken captive and subsequently treated for injuries is a dangerous euphemism that obfuscates the fact that Israel is 1) holding these individuals captive and wrongfully detaining them and 2) “treating” injuries the Israeli military as almost certainly inflicted."

Israeli extremists are marching through occupied East Jerusalem, not "Palestinian area"

"AP is quick to label unconfirmed cases of chants calling for “death to Jews” as antisemitic, but will only refer to extremist Israelis chanting “death to Arabs” as nationalists or ultranationalists."

Context lacking in article regarding Israeli-imposed blockade in Gaza

Israel's blockade and siege of Gaza did not start on October 7th. Israel has had total control of the crossings into Gaza since 2007 when Hamas won the election and Israel imposed a land, sea, and air blockade on the Gaza Strip. This amounts to collective punishment and is considered a war crime.

Article consistently refers to Palestine as "modern-day Israel"

"Considering this lack of responsiveness and accountability, I am curious whether there is a more useful contact at the Associated Press. If so, please pass it on. If not, I would appreciate verbal confirmation that the Associated Press is not interested in feedback and criticism for improved reporting."

Police weren't tangled with protesters at Gaza encampments, they were violently arresting them

"Given these cases of violent crack-downs on protestors at both the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Southern California, the vocabulary you’ve used to describe interactions between students and police is inappropriate, inaccurate, and merits prompt correction."

Correction needed to refine misleading language regarding coverage on genocide in Gaza

"Therefore, there is a notable absence of contextualization when portraying the deaths in Gaza as simply a byproduct of "war" rather than explicitly labeling them as targeted attacks carried out by the Israeli military."

Israel did not "capture" East Jerusalem, they illegally occupy it

"The term “occupy” denotes tension and a sense of contestation, which is far more appropriate. Similarly, the consistent reference to settler encroachment on Palestinian land as “contested” and not “illegal” is misleading to readers. Please make edits accordingly to maintain minimum journalistic standards."

1.7 Million Palestinian have been displaced, not hundreds of thousands

Towards the end of the article, you write that “hundreds of thousands have been displaced”, whereas the accurate figure, reported by the United Nations Population Fund and other International Organizations, stands at approximately 1.7 million Palestinians. Describing the displacement as "hundreds of thousands" is inaccurate and minimizes the gravity of the situation.

Correction needed to specify that Hamas is not responsible for all the deaths on Oct. 7

"Instead of ambiguous statements about Israel’s military assault on Gaza, like writing that it’s caused “widespread devastation,” I’d recommend opting for a more precise and descriptive account."

For the Associated Press, Palestinian testimonies seem to be worth less than Israel's claims

"Consistently giving priority to statements provided by Israel’s military and deliberately excluding testimonies provided by witnesses or Palestinian officials is a blatant double standard and perpetuates Canadian media’s tendency to assign the burden of proof to anyone but Israel."
