"It is unfortunate that an article dedicated to reporting on a case of Islamophobia diverts attention to antisemitism, which already receives extensive coverage. This double standard in media reporting fails to give justice to the severity of the Islamophobic incident and dilutes the necessary discourse around the discrimination and challenges faced by the Muslim community in Canada."

On X (formerly Twitter), a search for the phrase pulls up innumerable tweets of far-right individuals, such as this one, using the phrase in highly racist remarks. The mistake to use the phrase by Toronto Star is almost certainly accidental, but we would strongly advise against its use, as it serves as a dog whistle
