CBC hides pro-Israel partisanship of interviewees in one-sided article

The point of this alert is not to “defend” Sinwar, but to demand that reporting be fair and balanced, even when covering controversial figures. It is unimaginable that a CBC piece would be written in this way about Israel's leadership.

Article fails to challenge Board Chair Fred Fuchs‘ comments

"The fact that you publish his words saying that the film presents one point of view is disappointing as his words are the equivalence of people choosing to stay silent on the genocide we are seeing unfolding in front of our eyes in Gaza."

Challenge CBC for attempting to question Israelʼs settler colony status

The article fails to give the broader reality of colonization for Palestinians, mentioning only the issue of freedom of movement re Gaza. It is much more than that, as Palestinians are slowly dispossessed of their land while settlements and settler activities are increasing in the West Bank.

Article fails to depict the Parliament Hill rally fairly

"Thousands of people showed up in support of Palestinians and called for an immediate ceasefire. You are not covering this event in a fair or balanced manner. You are not giving a voice and space to Palestinians and their perspective, even though it would be highly appropriate in this context."

In an interview with the Israeli army spokesperson, Cochrane gushed “You’re not wrong,” conceding to all his points, and effectively apologizing to the IDF for the media coverage of Israeli atrocities.

CJPME acknowledges that our offices, located in Montreal, are on the unceded, unsurrendered Territory of the Kanienʼkehá꞉ka (Mohawk), whose presence here reaches back to time immemorial.  CJPME recognizes the Kanienʼkehá꞉ka as the customary keepers and defenders of the St. Laurence River Watershed and its tributaries. We honour their long history of welcoming many Nations to this beautiful territory and uphold and uplift the voice and values of our Host Nation.  Further, CJPME respects and affirms the inherent and Treaty Rights of all Indigenous Peoples across this land. CJPME has and will continue to honour the commitments to self-determination and sovereignty we have made to Indigenous Nations and Peoples.  CJPME also acknowledges the historical oppression of lands, cultures and the original Peoples in what we now know as Canada and fervently believes that its work should contribute to the healing and decolonizing journey we all share together.
