"This is also a major double standard on the part of your newsroom. Imagine describing Russia's actions in Ukraine using Kremlin terminology such as using the term “special military operation” instead of “war.” It would rightly be condemned as irresponsible. The same standard should be applied to Palestinians in the West Bank."

I particularly appreciated that you gave Mr. El Khairy the opportunity to explain what it means to talk about Palestine in English. He pointed out that in Arabic, it is “Falasteen,” and he delved deeper into the need for context when discussing Palestinians and their suffering in the English language.

"Your questions provided Dr. Davidovitch with an opportunity to outline the concerns of Israeli medical doctors with the proposed judicial reform of Prime Minister Netanyahu and his government. It was quite clear that he sees these reforms as ‘a danger to democracy’ and possibly blocking the ability of Israeli citizens and marginalized groups such as the LBGTQ community to have equitable access to services based on the political beliefs of the politicians and/or the religious beliefs of doctors."

"Specifying that these four individuals were “settlers” provides important context about why Palestinians may be hostile to settlers, especially as the extremist right-wing Israeli government today announced 1,000 more illegal settlement housing units in the occupied West Bank, in addition to existing plans. To ignore such context fails to capture the reality between Jewish-Israeli settlers and indigenous Palestinian residents of the occupied West Bank and the near impunity of settlers who are backed by the Israeli army."

"I also appreciate that your interview with Hanny touched on difficult issues of identity, displacement, and belonging. Often, Palestinian perspectives and narratives are silenced or deliberately left out of Canadian public discourse. Highlighting the experience of Palestinians – who experience war and live under occupation – is important in educating the Canadian public about the daily challenges and traumatic experiences that Palestinians endure."

Your radio segment reports that '19 people were killed' as a result of Israel’s airstrikes on Gaza. However, you fail to mention that most of the casualties were Palestinian civilians, including at least 4 children. By omitting the fact that civilians were killed in Israel’s latest airstrike attack on Gaza, you are presenting the narrative preferred by the Israeli military, which says that any Palestinian living in Gaza is a 'target.'

Your segment mentions that in Gaza, “80% of the population depends on food aid and almost half the population is unemployed.” While this is true, you fail to mention why the conditions in Gaza are so unliveable.

Gaza has been living under a brutal 15-year-long illegal blockade and siege by Israel, preventing basic goods and medicine from entering the occupied territory. In fact, since 2007, Israel has imposed a land, sea and air blockade on the strip. According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Occupied Palestinian territory, Israel’s blockade on Gaza amounts to a “denial of basic human rights in contravention of international law and amounts to collective punishment.”

"Palestinian perspectives and experiences are often silenced or deliberately left out of Canadian public discourse. By mentioning such events, you valorize the lived experiences of Canadian Palestinians and draw attention to important events like the Nakba and its ongoing impact on the Palestinian people, culture, and heritage."

Thank you for your fair and credible reporting, and for rightfully including the ‘Palestinian issue’ as a major aspect of the story. I also appreciate your analysis of the creation of Ben-Gvir’s ‘national guard’ as an element of Netanyahu’s decision to ‘pause’ his legislative agenda, and your inclusion of the perspective of the (small) anti-occupation bloc within the protests. I also thought that you accurately represented the perspective of most Palestinians on the “pro-democracy” protests, in a way that is consistent with what my organization has been hearing.

"I was especially pleased to hear that the guest Michael Koplow of the Israel Policy Forum addressed how Palestinian citizens are impacted by policies pursued by the current right-wing Israeli government. I am appreciative that attention was brought towards the racist and inflammatory comments made by Minister Bezalel Smotrich about Palestinians but also the forced expulsions, and settlement activity ongoing in the occupied West Bank."
