Request for addition of context in colt weapons plant expansion article

Although I appreciated that the article included a diversity of concerns about the proposed expansion of the Colt weapons plant in Kitchener, sufficient background was lacking as to why several members of the public condemned the expansion at a council meeting Monday night. You give voice to Andrew Reeves, who mentions ‘implications overseas’ and the possibility of ‘Kitchener [being] complicit in the ongoing Israel-Hamas war’ without providing any background information.

Israel is waging a war on "Palestine", not "Hamas"

"Referring to Israel’s genocide of Palestinians in Gaza as the “Israel-Hamas war” is problematic for several reasons. The Palestinian death toll is nearing more than 38,000 with the majority of those killed being women, children, and elderly folks. Furthermore, the Lancet medical journal recently reported that it is “not implausible” for the Gaza death toll to have reached 186,000, surpassing the official figures reported by Gaza's health ministry, which stand at 38,153. The Lancet noted that the lower figure failed to account for those buried under rubble and the "indirect" deaths resulting from Israel’s deliberate dismantling of Gaza’s infrastructure. The term “Israel’s war on Hamas” is therefore rendered obsolete."
