Plagiarized information and one-sided reporting in news segment on Sarah Jama's Palestine activism

"You have also failed to provide any balancing perspective on whether Sarah Jama’s comments are antisemitic and have therefore failed in your journalistic mandate to provide diversity in your news reporting.  By comparison, the Globe and Mail, in an article about Jama and her comments published March 14, cited Independent Jewish Voices which supports Jama, as well as Michael Bueckert of Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East, who describes the ruckus as a “smear campaign.”"

No mention of occupation in CP24 news segment

"Although the news segment in question is very brief, it is incredibly biased that you fail to mention that the West Bank is militarily occupied by Israel since 1967. In your news segment, you claim that “the militants opened fire on troops near the city of Nablus.” This statement reflects the fact that Israeli soldiers are stationed in the Palestinian city of Nablus as an occupying force. You should also be aware that the UN General Assembly has recently asked the International Criminal Court to determine whether Israel’s occupation of the Palestinian Territories is illegal, given that it has become a de facto annexation. By omitting such important information, you are failing to meet basic journalistic standards."

Israeli-only footage used in report on Jenin raid by CP24

"There is a huge issue with the asymmetrical nature of the video used in the segment, which exclusively used video sourced from the Israeli army, which was specifically released for Israeli public relations purposes. It is a serious ethical issue if the party which is accused of a violent attack is also allowed to provide the sole visual representation of that event. It is your responsibility as professional journalists to provide a balanced report."

Incorrect description of Israeli raid on occupied Nablus in CP24 News segment

"You inaccurately describe the Israeli raid on the occupied city of Nablus as one of the bloodiest 'battles' this year. Using the term 'battle' obscures the power dynamics at play, creating the appearance of a fight in which both sides are equal. In fact, Israeli military forces have been repeatedly invading and attacking Palestinian cities and villages and indiscriminately killing Palestinian civilians and increasing the death toll to at least 62 Palestinians, including 13 children, since the start of this year. I insist that you issue an on-air correction for referring to this incident as a 'battle,' and clarify that the incident in which Palestinians were killed was a 'confrontation' between mostly unarmed Palestinians and Israeli military forces."

Missing context and explicit bias in CP24 news segment

"Your news segment sheds light on the rise in tensions and violence in the Israeli-occupied West Bank which resulted in the death of Amir Bustami, a 21-year old Palestinian man, by Israeli forces. However, I would like to point out several problems with your video segment.

First, you report that the events are taking place in the “West Bank.” However, you fail to mention that the West Bank has been militarily-occupied by Israel since 1967 according to international law. Referring to it only as the “West Bank” omits critical context and fails to adequately describe the oppressive situation that Palestinians in the occupied West Bank face. We ask that future reporting correctly identifies the West Bank as Palestinian territory occupied by Israel."
