Inaccurate and misleading language regarding Israel's killing of a Palestinian child in the occupied West Bank

"Your description of a “clash” obscures the Israeli military’s role in provoking the confrontation between stone throwers and heavily armed soldiers. The Israeli military uses sophisticated weapons and equipment whereas the Palestinians, as mentioned in your own coverage, were throwing stones. Your coverage obscures and downplays the asymmetrical nature of the violence."

Thanks for providing unbiased coverage of the Prime Minister’s statement regarding Israel's settlement expansion

Your segment covers all these topics succinctly and provides your audience with an un-biased viewpoint of the events, notably calling attention to right-wing Israeli politicians who are pushing for settlement expansion on Palestinian land while encouraging settler violence against Palestinian civilians.

False assertion that the West Bank is "disputed" rather than occupied by Israel since 1967

"To claim that the West Bank is “disputed” is misleading and inaccurate and lends credence to the idea that Israel has a legal claim to it which is the perspective of the Israeli government."

Factual error and misleading language regarding Israeli settler violence in the occupied West Bank

Your use of the word “captured” when describing Israel’s military occupation of the West Bank, “Israel captured the West Bank in the 1967 Mideast was” is also problematic as it does not use the correct terminology, mainly due to the fact that the term “capture” never applies to land appropriation under international law, among other reasons.

Article fails to specify that Israel attacked Jenin refugee camp

"Failing to correctly identify Jenin as a refugee camp and characterizing it as a “militant stronghold” serves to mislead readers about life in the camp, downplays the devastation faced by civilians, and serves to legitimize the Israeli military attack which has faced significant international condemnation."

Failure to include Palestinian perspectives regarding Israel's judicial reforms

I am extremely surprised to see that there are no Palestinian perspectives whatsoever in your reporting. The same government which is spearheading the judicial reforms, seen as a power grab by many in Israel, has also been busy approving new settlements on occupied Palestinian land and encouraging extremist settlers to perpetrate violence against Palestinian civilians.

Article uses misleading language to describe Palestinians in Jenin refugee camp and Hamas

"Among the errors in Mr. Miller’s article is his failure to specify that Israel’s attack on Jenin earlier this month specifically targeted the city’s refugee camp. To only characterize Jenin as a “militant stronghold” legitimizes, albeit implicitly, the Israeli military’s framing of its attack as an “operation,” while downplaying its brutality and the devastation wrought on Palestinians living in the camp."

Failure to specify that Morocco and Israel are occupying powers

I request that the article is updated to mention that like Morocco, Israel is similarly an occupying power over the Palestinian territories of Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem.

Misleading assertion that Hamas is a militant group

I urge the AP to update its article and either remove the description of Hamas as a “militant group” or add that Hamas also “governs the Gaza Strip, provides social services, and runs media outlets.”
