Racist article erases the existence and history of Palestine

"By describing this territory as “the area inhabited by Palestinians,” you are erasing the existence and history of Palestine and, therefore, reinforcing Robinson’s harmful anti-Palestinian comments. Please replace 'the area inhabited by Palestinians' with 'Palestine'."

Re: “Investigate UNRWA — but for the sake of Gazans, don’t defund it”

"It is oddly well-timed knowing that, since October 7, Israel has killed 152 UNWRA employees and damaged 146 UNRWA installations and that ICJ ruled that genocide in Gaza is ‘plausible’ and that it must allow more humanitarian aid into Gaza."

One-sided radio segment conflates antizionism with antisemitism

"It is disappointing that this radio segment took this opportunity to attack and discredit Kiana Lede and not discuss why she was wearing a Keffiyeh patterned cardigan. This radio segment should have brought light to the proven allegations of genocide against Israel and not about how inappropriate it is."

One-sided article engages in anti-Palestinian narrative

"Your article does not give the same treatment to the claims made by Palestinian students, no additional arguments are provided in their defense, although there are numerous. This demonstrates an alarming lack of balance on a sensitive issue, that of anti-Palestinian racism and Islamophobia."

Unproven claims that Hamas uses sexual violence as a weapon of war

"Any rape or sexual violence allegation must be taken seriously, and investigations should be carried out. However, one must make sure to be balanced by citing independent sources and proven evidence and by including Palestinian voices."

No mention of Islamophobia, anti-Palestinian racism and Israel's case at the ICJ

"I insist that you include a reference to the fact that the ICJ has ruled that South Africa’s contention that Israel is committing genocide is plausible and that Israel has a duty to do more to prevent genocide in Gaza. Please add this important context when speaking about Israel’s attacks on Palestine."

Article misrepresents the intentions of pro-Palestine campus protests

"This chant is not hate speech or a call to hate crime. Unfortunately, it has been time and time again unfairly described as such by pro-Israel organizations to prevent legitimate criticism of the State of Israel and its actions, and mentioning only this interpretation of the chant makes the article biased."

Re: “Rob Roberts: The smell of horror in Israel's kibbutzim is hardest to forget”

"What does it say about our democracy? The true horror is that the media, which is supposed to be our vanguard of information, is no longer making individuals informed and unbiased."

Re: “Israel in talks with Canada over investigation of Hamas sex assault allegations”

"I don’t think this is too much to ask of Canada, as Canada shouldn’t pick and choose which women it deems more worthy of such an investigation. It should respect and believe all women, including Palestinian women."

Correction needed to add that Israeli settlements are illegal under international law

"Canada and much of the international community indeed see Israeli settlements in the West Bank as illegal. Still, it is incomplete to not add that they are illegal under international law. Such a statement undermines their illegality and makes it seem like the illegality of the settlements is not founded and only 'an opinion/impression'."

CJPME acknowledges that our offices, located in Montreal, are on the unceded, unsurrendered Territory of the Kanienʼkehá꞉ka (Mohawk), whose presence here reaches back to time immemorial.  CJPME recognizes the Kanienʼkehá꞉ka as the customary keepers and defenders of the St. Laurence River Watershed and its tributaries. We honour their long history of welcoming many Nations to this beautiful territory and uphold and uplift the voice and values of our Host Nation.  Further, CJPME respects and affirms the inherent and Treaty Rights of all Indigenous Peoples across this land. CJPME has and will continue to honour the commitments to self-determination and sovereignty we have made to Indigenous Nations and Peoples.  CJPME also acknowledges the historical oppression of lands, cultures and the original Peoples in what we now know as Canada and fervently believes that its work should contribute to the healing and decolonizing journey we all share together.
