"By airing only this partial quote, the CBC segment risks whitewashing Carney’s stance, leaving listeners with the false impression that he is advocating for peace. In reality, his vision legitimizes the position of the occupier—one that aligns with Israel’s ongoing genocide, apartheid, and dispossession of Palestinians."

"I urge your newsroom to correct your reporting on the escalations between the two countries. Future coverage must include balanced sourcing, critical context, and the perspectives of those most affected by the violence, particularly Iranian civilians. Failing to do so makes your coverage an opinion piece and not a credible journal article."

On May 22, 2025, CBC News aired a deeply troubling interview with Israel’s ambassador to Canada, Iddo Moed. The segment failed to meet basic journalistic standards, offering a platform for unchallenged Israeli propaganda while erasing Palestinian suffering. We encourage our media responders to hold CBC accountable for its complicity in dehumanizing Palestinians.

"This type of selective reporting is a microcosm of what Mohammed El-Kurd calls “the politics of appeal” — the notion that Palestinians must be portrayed as “perfect victims,” such as children, to elicit sympathy. It implies that the deaths of Palestinian adults — women and men — are somehow less tragic, less newsworthy."

"Why does the Associated Press,and by extension, the Globe and Mail, mention the Israeli death toll while omitting the Palestinian toll? This is a form of selective reporting that undermines journalistic fairness and treats Palestinian lives as worthless."

"This framing uncritically repeats the Israeli military’s narrative of a counterterrorism operation without questioning its proportionality or compliance with international law. For instance, the article whitewashes the Israeli military’s actions by blindly repeating their justifications for “raids” through the claim that they are targeting "militants" despite there being supporting evidence indicating otherwise. Furthermore, the article barely includes any Palestinian perspectives which contributes to this one-sided reporting that heavily relies on the claims made by an occupying force."

"Fair and accurate reporting is an important journalistic standard in Canada that requires reporters to provide evidence supporting allegations. For this story, there is no evidence for Mr. Passifiume to report as fact that any of the encampments were a "no-go" zone for Jewish students and faculty."

"You don’t mention that McGill students were participating in a Walkout protest sponsored by McGill’s Solidarity for Palestinian Human Rights. To fail to provide this context is an alarming oversight and it should be promptly added to your article if you hope to meet standards of fairness."

"While Ms. Perez effectively covered the conflict between the OCDSB school board and the Capital Pride committee, the article would have benefited from including perspectives from more members of the OCDSB board, rather than solely focusing on Dr. Nili Kaplan-Myrth. For future coverage of this story, I recommend that CTV Ottawa include a broader range of interviews with other board members to provide a more balanced view."

"First, this sentence: 'It also said it is fighting Hamas in Gaza, and that it ‘targets only military objectives and employs various measures to minimize harm to civilians,’' presents the IDF’s claims without appropriate skepticism. To present the Israeli army’s actions as minimizing civilian harm, without adding meaningful qualification, overlooks the broader context of Israel’s military campaign in Gaza."
