Thanks and some commentary on the October 28 article re: vigil for Palestine

Thanks + concerns reagrding lack of context and misleading terminology in coverage of Gaza

The Palestinian population was terrorized by Haganah and other militias, and forcibly expelled in the first wave of ethnic cleansing that accompanied the formation of the Israeli state.

Feedback on article about Gaza and the scene in Montreal

This passage omits important key context. Students in Canada and all across North America organized encampments to demand that their universities divest from weapons manufacturers and companies complicit in Israel’s genocide. These are the same companies that produce parts for F-35 fighter jets used in the bombardment of Palestinians in Gaza. This context is critical for readers to understand why encampments happened in the first place.

Language does not reflect the criminal nature of Israel's actions

Since May, Israel has been controlling the deadly and chaotic, and highly limited, distribution of food through the so-called US-Israel backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, with the Gaza Ministry of Health reporting that there have been 2,018 fatalities and more than 14,947 injuries between May 27 and August 21, 2025 among people trying to access food supplies.

Concerns regarding article ab/ Netanyahu's speech at the UN

The so-called “Gaza Humanitarian Foundation,” backed by the U.S., operates under the guise of aid distribution but in practice functions as a death trap where Palestinians are faced with live ammunition while seeking food. Palestinians are not merely starving in a vacuum- they are being starved by Israel. This essential context must be included.

Re: “Action must follow Canada’s tone shift on Gaza”

"If the Carney government is serious about human rights, it must impose a full arms embargo on Israel, ending all military trade; suspend the Canada-Israel Free Trade Agreement; formally recognize the state of Palestine; call out Israel’s genocide in Gaza and demand accountability at the International Court of Justice."

Bias toward Israel in Canadian Press article

"Midway through the piece there is this passage, “Hamas militants attacked Israel, resulting in the deadliest massacre of Jews since the Holocaust.” This point is only half the story. You should also be informing your readers “since October 8th, Israel has massacred more Palestinians than since the beginning of recorded time”.  Fair is fair."

Re:“Disinformation and hate threaten to drown out lessons of history”

"While Hanes makes the important distinction between criticism of Israel and antisemitism, quoting former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert that Israel is committing war crimes,an implicit bias is evident as she quotes only Israel boosters like Warren Kinsella. Why are Palestinian Canadian voices or anti-Zionist Jewish Canadian voices absent from this piece?"

CBC airs pitiful interview with former ambassador to Israel

"CBC Listen aired an episode featuring David Common in conversation with former ambassador to Israel, Jon Allen, about Israel’s genocide in the occupied Gaza Strip—but CBC refuses to describe it that way. The episode contains factual inaccuracies, erases Palestinian voices, and the host makes harmful comments about Palestinians in Gaza."
