Serious concern regarding "The Canadians in Hamas"

The Canadian Association of Journalists’ ethics guidelines state that “Any vested interest or potential bias on the part of a source” should be divulged. Nothing is said of potential bias of the unnamed source. What was their motivation? The authors do not ask this question in the article nor give an explanation. The examples given later in the article do not suggest there are any imminent threats to Canadian national security, therefore this aspect is unclear.

Concerns October 1st segment on the Trump "Peace Plan"

In addition to genocide, Israel has subjected Palestinians in Gaza to decades of blockade, illegal occupation, and apartheid, as documented by UN bodies and many international and Israeli human rights organizations. The fact that the segment doesn’t mention any of this whitewashes Israel’s war crimes.

Ben Mulroney unfit to host The West Block

Mr. Mulroney’s overlapping roles — as a paid political event host, a donor and fundraiser for the Conservative Party, an ambassador for a registered lobby group, and an adviser to private companies — constitute clear violations of these standards. His actions create not only a real conflict of interest but also the perception of bias, both of which are grounds for CBSC complaints.

If Global proceeds with Mr. Mulroney as host of The West Block, it risks undermining public trust in Global News’ compliance with CBSC codes. Global News should expect formal complaints for breaching standards of fairness, accuracy, and independence if it does not course correct immediately.

Concerns over coverage of Israeli airstrikes in Gaza

"Were eyewitnesses contacted? Were United Nations officials or independent investigators consulted? The absence of these perspectives amounts to single viewpoint reporting from a military involved in the incident. This is another violation of Canadian journalistic principles of balance, fairness, and accountability."

News segment serves to normalize and justify Israel’s unlawful acts of aggression

"This is the press, an irresponsible press. It will make the criminal look like he's the victim and make the victim look like he's the criminal. If you aren't careful the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed and loving the people who are doing the oppressing." Malcolm X. 1964

Poor coverage of Israeli airstrikes on Iran

"Yet your article fails to report any of this context, instead focusing solely on Israeli fears while legitimizing unlawful and escalatory military action. This reflects a deeply imbalanced narrative and enables the erosion of international norms prohibiting attacks on civilian nuclear infrastructure."

Stop calling it "Hamas-Run"; it’s the Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza

"Describing it as the “Hamas-run” Health Ministry is not a neutral designation; it is a politically loaded term that portrays Palestinian hospitals as suspicious and untrustworthy —  as if the facts must first pass through a filter of suspicion."

Broadcast amplifies unverified Israeli claims

"Over the past 20 months of genocide Israel has been caught out in countless lies. This is so well documented that all Israeli claims should be delivered with skepticism and be challenged. Anything less is sloppy journalism. There should also be a Palestinian voice in all such stories. This is a “conflict” so there are at least two sides, but we so often hear only one."

One-sided segment of Gaza Humanitarian Foundation needs on-air correction

"Although the segment briefly acknowledged the Palestinian death toll and included a short quote from a Palestinian woman, it overwhelmingly amplified Israeli military denials through a video statement by an IDF general. The purpose of this video is clearly to cast doubt on Palestinian and independent sources and reinforcing the narrative of the occupying power without scrutiny."

News segment manufactures consent to Israel's war crimes

"Such unbalanced journalistic framing exposes the hypocrisy of Western media and governments - offering performative nods to international law and human rights while actively enabling Israel's unimpeded commission of war crimes and collective punishment against Palestinians."
