Letter to the Editor: Re: "School boards shouldn’t rush into adopting anti-Palestinian racism strategies"
"Casey’s rhetorical remark questioning whether we should combat other forms of discrimination like anti-Lebanese, anti-Syrian, or anti-Iranian racism, simply because the Toronto School Board included anti-Palestinian racism in its anti-racism strategy, is egregiously offensive."

"Ms. Xu, your use of the term "Jewish teachers" fails to express any skepticism of pro-Israel groups quoted in the article, which are likely conflating criticism of Israel with antisemitism. Pro-Israel groups have a vested interest in excluding Palestinian resources critical of Israel’s egregious human rights abuses against Palestinians. It is your responsibility to provide readers with a clear understanding of the motivations behind these pro-Israel teachers' claims of “antisemitism.” This framing is not only misleading but also fails to reflect the diversity of opinions within the Jewish community, including those critical of Israeli policies. You must clarify the distinction between anti-Zionism and antisemitism."

"Under international law, Israel is considered an occupying power and has a responsibility of letting aid in. On top of it, Israel has closed border crossings, which is the only effective and efficient way to get aid despite multiple international calls asking Israel to open them."

Your article suggests that these two organizations and Ms. Lantsman are representative of the Jewish community and their concerns. "While the article does state that The Commission reports that “Israel obstructs its work and prevented investigators from accessing both Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories,” the extent of Israel’s noncompliance is not adequately conveyed, thus giving readers the false impression that the burden of proof has been met equally by Israel and Palestine."

"The numbers you cite are based on B’nai Brith’s annual antisemitism report, which conflates antisemitic incidents with pro-Palestine advocacy. This is a yearly issue, and yet the report is treated as a reliable source. While B’nai Brith keeps the vast majority of the data private, so it cannot be independently verified, some examples they give in their brief public report indicate the numbers do not represent what most Canadians consider antisemitic acts."
Read moreArticle about famine in Gaza lacks context
There are glaring holes in your reporting of the famine and ongoing Genocide in Gaza due to your weak and obscure language, which subtly undermines the scale of starvation and dehydration in the Gaza Strip and, most importantly, absolves Israel of its central responsibility for these devastating outcomes.

"Ms. Mendick's extremely selective framing of her story evokes empathy for the hostages while omitting the fact that there are instances where Israel has killed its own citizens."
