Language does not reflect the criminal nature of Israel's actions

Since May, Israel has been controlling the deadly and chaotic, and highly limited, distribution of food through the so-called US-Israel backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, with the Gaza Ministry of Health reporting that there have been 2,018 fatalities and more than 14,947 injuries between May 27 and August 21, 2025 among people trying to access food supplies.

Israel is waging a genocide in Gaza, not war

Calling it the “Israel-Hamas war” suggests two equal sides, when in reality Israel is an occupying power with one of the most advanced militaries in the world, and Palestinians are a stateless, besieged population living under apartheid. This framing erases the power imbalance and diminishes the reality of Palestinian suffering under a genocidal campaign.

Article breaches journalistic balance

There is not a single mention of the designated terrorist groups actually operating inside of Canada and impacting the lives of Canadians, like the Proud Boys, Blood and Honour and Combat 18 — all white supremacist, neo-Nazi groups.

Israel wants to "occupy" not "capture" Gaza City

Israeli politicians have also openly called for a second Nakba, expressing genocidal intent to dispossess the Palestinian people. One letter distributed in the occupied West Bank read: “Emigrate to Jordan or be exterminated” (October 26, 2023).

Misreporting Gaza Poll Data in Column

Treating the results as directly comparable is a polemic tactic designed to create a damaging narrative of guilt-by-association, which the Israeli government and its allies in the media have been using as an excuse to indiscriminately killing civilians en masse for almost two years.

Your editorial on antisemitism

"Are your editors aware that protests at synagogues have not targeted worship services, but instead real estate fairs for property in the occupied West Bank as well as talks by Israeli soldiers who have served in Gaza? Does the Globe maintain that organizers can put any such event – however unrelated to religious services it may be – off limits to demonstrations by holding them at a house of worship?"

Israel has been imposing a blockade for months; lack of context in article

Yet, the article left out the insidious reasons why “conditions in the Palestinian enclave [have] descended further into hunger and desperation” and why there is a “struggle to find food”.

Headline Sanitizes Israeli Violations of International Law

"This is not a minor stylistic issue—it’s a matter of journalistic integrity. Passive language sanitizes Israel’s violations, from apartheid and illegal settlements to its obstruction of aid amid famine. The article itself reports on Israel’s far-right minister explicitly stating that the settlements aim to “bury the idea of a Palestinian state,” yet the headline downplays this aggression."

CJPME Media Analyst published in the Globe and Mail

On August 10, 2025, CJPME media analyst Anthony Issa was published in The Globe and Mail in response to the editorial, “We shouldn’t turn a blind eye to assaults on Muslim women.”

Mr. Issa emphasized that cases of targeted assaults of muslim women at pro-Palestine demonstrations must also be understood in the context of anti-Palestinian racism. He noted that this form of racism, recognized by both the Arab Canadian Lawyers Association and the federal government, is a distinct and growing phenomenon in Canada.

We thanks the Globe and Mail for providing readers with a chance to understand the concept of anti-Palestinian racism.

Gaza is internationally recognized as occupied by the Israeli occupation forces

"The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the United Nations, and leading human rights organizations have consistently affirmed that Israel remains the occupying power in Gaza."
