Cornwall Standard-Freeholder publishes CJPME LTE

On July 22, Cornwall Standard-Freeholder published a CJPME letter to the editor (LTE).

CJPME sent a letter agreeing with an LTE published in Cornwall Standard-Freeholder about the US playing the role of the “impregnable wall” to Israel.

CJPME developed the argument further by writing an LTE about the role of US imperialism in the establishment of the State of Israel and its lifeline.

You can read the unedited LTE here.

RE: Uncle Sam's hand (letter to the editor submission)

"Mohammad Talat Naeem is right to say that the U.S. plays the role of an 'impregnable wall' when it comes to not putting pressure or sanctions on Israel. While the Israeli lobby does play a huge part in American politics, the opposite is also true. Since World War 2, the US has been the patron of Israel. It has not only metaphorically shielded Israel from any accountability, but it has also literally provided its shield by funding Israel’s Iron Dome and Israel’s arms in its long history of war crimes, with the latest being its genocide in Gaza."

Re:“Golda Meir and the Yom Kippur War: 50 years later”

"Golda Meir’s comments were and remain inflammatory, as they contribute to the effort to erase Palestinians and their identity. Rather than try to explain away her remarks or whitewash them, Mr. Levine should face them plainly and make clear their unacceptability."

Article fails to specify Israel's military occupation of the Syrian Golan Heights

UNSC Resolution 242 (1967) calls for the withdrawal of Israel’s armed forces from territories occupied during the Six Day War including Syria’s Golan Heights. This was affirmed by UNSC Resolution 497 (1981) which asserts that “The Israeli decision to impose its laws, jurisdiction and administration in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights is null and void and without international legal effect.”

Misleading language and characterization of Hamas militant group

In particular, I take issue with your subjective characterization of Hamas as an “extremist” group. By using the term “extremist” you are stating an opinion as fact. While the United States and some Western countries consider Hamas a terrorist group, this is not universally agreed upon.

One-sided reporting about Palestinian involvement in the 1972 Munich Olympics Attack

First, your news article fails to provide an adequate explanation of the Palestinian group, the Black September Organization, responsible for the Munich Olympics attacks. Since you are reporting on the implications of the attack, it is only fair that you include a sentence that defines the Palestinian group and its aims.
