Heritage Minister Marc Miller is given space to make comments that are irrelevant inthe context of an exhibit about the historical ethnic cleansing of Palestinians in1948. Israel did not yet exist, nor did Hamas. Indeed, it raises the question of why the Canadian Heritage Minister is so invested in rewriting the narrative around Israel’s inception.

The framing that the Nakba is a “divisive topic” is unfair. The Nakba itself is a historical fact. There is no division about the Nakba. It happened. 

The National Post has yet again published an opinion piece by Terry Newman that reads as a mouthpiece for Israeli propaganda.

The article is one-sided and fails to meet journalistic standards of fairness and balance laid out in the Canadian Association of Journalists ethics guidelines. 

Perspectives from Palestinian Canadians and alternative Jewish groups are notably absent. As such, the article is one-sided and fails to meet journalistic standards of fairness and balance laid out in the Canadian Association of Journalists ethics guidelines. 

While I appreciate some of the balance of this article it irresponsibly omits a Palestinian voice or perspective as the story of the Nakba demands. It also lacks a progressive and empathetic Jewish representation of which there are many - Independent Jewish Voices and Jews Say No to Genocide to name only two.
