The National Post published an opinion piece filled with misinformation. Even though it is an opinion piece, it crosses a line, breaching the basic journalistic standards of accuracy. Opinion articles must still be based on facts. Help us in pressuring the National Post to correct the piece and the public record.

"The National Post published an egregious piece parroting Israeli propaganda—dismissing the well-substantiated charge of genocide, the gravest crime under international law. This denial comes despite leading international organizations, including Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, having characterized Israel’s post-October 7 military campaign as genocidal."

"The National Post’s decision to publish this is highly alarming and, unless it is corrected, demonstrates a basic disregard for widely-shared journalistic standards in Canada. Newspapers in Canada are responsible for the wire content they publish, and ignoring such an egregious violation of ethics sets a dangerous precedent."

"We expect that any reasonable reader would agree that it is reductive, misleading, and untrue to summarize the language used in the definition as “any criticism.” To be clear, there are many opinions expressed in Hopper’s article that we disagree with, but would not challenge because they are clearly expressed as opinions. Unfortunately, this particular claim is stated as fact, and even uses language like “technically deems” to reinforce the notion that the sentiment is not an opinion, but being stated as if factual. We therefore request the article to be updated to resolve this issue."

"A recent National Post op-ed by Jesse Kline accuses CBC of anti-Israel bias, distorting its reporting on Gaza, casualty figures, and journalist integrity. This attack is part of a larger campaign by pro-Israel lobby groups such as HRC and CIJA to pressure CBC into adopting a complete one-sided pro-Israel editorial narrative."

"This statement shatters any pretense of journalistic neutrality. If the National Post is an openly Zionist newspaper, it should disclose this bias to readers instead of misleading them into believing they are receiving balanced journalism. Your editorial stance is not driven by journalistic integrity but by ideological loyalty to Israel."

Despite the serious ethical violations of journalistic standards outlined below, Hudson’s Bay continues to support National Post through its advertising dollars. This directly contradicts the company’s corporate commitments to integrity, diversity, and ethical business practices, as manifest in its "Charter for Change" mandate. CJPME’s media team has repeatedly urged Hudson’s Bay to review its advertising partnership with Postmedia and National Post, yet the company has failed to take any meaningful action.

"I ask once again that if the National Post is an openly Zionist newspaper, then it should clearly disclose this to readers instead of misleading them into believing they are getting balanced journalism. Your paper’s editorial stance is not dictated by journalistic integrity but by ideological loyalty to Israel."

"I urge the National Post to clarify that investigations by the UN and independent bodies have found no systemic links between UNRWA and Hamas. If you’re going to borrow the body text of syndicated press, you ought to include the section where they explicitly state that Israeli allegations against UNRWA employees remain unproven and do not rely on unverified claims without context."

The National Post published an article from the Jewish News Syndicate wire service rife with propaganda that whitewashes Israel’s genocidal campaign in the occupied Gaza Strip and West Bank.
