I was glad to see that your article provides more context than many others by mentioning the Palestinian man who was killed hours earlier in an Israeli raid on a refugee camp. This helps provide critical information that many reports chose to omit.

Often enough, Palestinian, and pro-Palestinian perspectives are silenced or deliberately left out of Canadian public discourse, especially when they challenge established power structures. Palestinians are engaged in a decades-long struggle for their liberation and human rights, and the media must be sure to include their narratives."

As expected, I saw the attack on The Link for its article by “(Dis)honest Reporting Canada” last week. Ultimately, their aim is to silence Palestinians and their narratives, and whitewash Israel’s human rights abuses. Their attack on you is testament to the fact that you provided comprehensive, personal and candid reporting. Again, thank you.

The term “Palestine territories” was used, but we recommend using the widely accepted “Occupied Palestinian Territories” instead. When speaking about the adverse impact that Israel’s military occupation has on children, this is an especially important nuance to capture. Additionally, the region is described as a “warzone,” but this phrasing obscures the asymmetrical nature of the situation, in which Israeli military violence disproportionately impacts Palestinians, especially children. In 2022 alone, Israeli forces and settlers killed 36 children with live ammunition.
