MAP Alert: Globe and Mail’s One-Sided Reporting on Israel-Hamas Ceasefire
"Every mention of an Israeli death is stated in active voice and Hamas is named as the perpetrator, whereas Palestinian deaths are mentioned in passive voice without assigning blame to Israel."

"The claim that the Ministry of Health "does not distinguish between combatants and civilians" is misleading and gives the impression that most Palestinians killed by Israel are combatants when, in fact, the overwhelming majority are civilians. For over a year, Israel has been systematically targeting civilian infrastructure in occupied Gaza, falsely justifying these attacks by claiming that Hamas leaders are concealing weapons—a narrative the resistance has consistently denied."

"Journalists serve as watchdogs, holding states and institutions accountable for unjust actions and violations of international humanitarian law. However, your report appears to normalize Israel's targeting of a journalist. Instead of clearly acknowledging Ms. Al-Udaini’s role as a journalist, you reduce her to a mere writer of “articles about the war in English advocating the Palestinian viewpoint.” This dismissal of her profession is both dehumanizing and unprofessional. She was a journalist, and she should be identified as such. I am shocked that this omission passed editorial review."

"The article disproportionately favors the opposers of the encampment at U of T as you significantly give more space for them to articulate their views, with their quotes prominently featured in five paragraphs. In contrast, only one time was a pro-Palestinian perspective quoted: “This encampment is just one tactic, and we are preparing to employ as many as necessary to achieve our demands.” More glaringly, the only quote you mentioned taints the encampment in a negative light. It is irresponsible to publish an article about the pro-Palestine encampment without any sense of the other side. More students involved in the protest could and should have been contacted and quoted. Burying and silencing Palestinian perspectives is a form of anti-Palestinian racism, intentional or not."
