Concerns Regarding Accuracy and Sensitivity in Recent Article on UN Motion

"Second, referring to Israel’s presence in the occupied West Bank as “disputed” is factually incorrect, legally unfounded, and undermines Palestinians' legitimate indigenous claim to their land. All settlements and outposts are considered illegal under international law based on the Fourth Geneva Convention which specifies that the transfer of an occupier’s population into the territory it occupies is prohibited. To maintain journalistic accuracy, I urge you to describe Israel’s presence in the West Bank as 'occupied' rather than 'disputed.'"

Factual inaccuracies and Misrepresentations on UN Gaza Casualty Estimates

"The National Post neglected to mention that the new figures included in the UN brief represent fully identified casualties, not a revision or reduction of previous estimates.Their headline is false and must be changed. The claims in the article that reflect this problematic headline also require clarification"

Article fails to highlight the UN‘s pro-Israel bias

"An article of this sort really seems to ignore the elephant in the room, i.e. the plausible accusation of genocide against Israel.  By publishing such an article, you undermine the extremely grave accusations against Israel."

Single-viewpoint reporting about UN bias in CityNews

It is inappropriate to leave such a claim unchallenged or without a broader context. As South African international law professor John Dugard, the UN’s former special rapporteur for human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories, has pointed out in the past, “This must be viewed in the context of the UN political organs as a whole… the Security Council and Quartet on the Middle East [UN, European Union, United States and Russia] are notoriously pro-Israel and refuse to pay adequate attention to Palestinian issues.”

Thanks for including a Palestinian angle regarding the United States' decision to rejoin UNESCO

"Despite the overwhelming majority in support of Palestine membership, the United States chose to stop funding UNESCO in protest. I appreciate that you provided this context to your segment as it gives viewers important information and acknowledges the Palestinian context of the story."

Thanks for providing a Palestinian aspect to the United States' decision to rejoin UNESCO

"First, I appreciate that your article framed the United States’ decision to rejoin UNESCO around Palestine’s contested membership status in the organization. The article provided important context about why the United States withdrew its funding in lieu of recognizing Palestine as a member."

Failure to contextualize the Nakba and reasons that forced Palestinians to flee their homes

"For Palestinians, the creation of the state of Israel in 1948 constituted a Nakba or ‘catastrophe,’ where families were forcibly expelled from their homes to make way for Jewish immigrants coming from Europe and the Middle East and North Africa. The massacres of Palestinian villages by Zionist militias, the most well-known being the Deir Yassin, is what drove Palestinians to flee."

No mention of blockade on Gaza in coverage of food aid shortages for Palestinian refugees

"Gaza has been living under a brutal 15-year-long illegal blockade and siege by Israel, preventing basic goods and medicine from entering the occupied territory. In fact, since 2007, Israel has imposed a land, sea and air blockade on the strip. According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Occupied Palestinian territory, Israel’s blockade on Gaza amounts to a 'denial of basic human rights in contravention of international law and amounts to collective punishment.'"

No mention of illegal blockade on Gaza by CBC Radio One

Your segment mentions that in Gaza, “80% of the population depends on food aid and almost half the population is unemployed.” While this is true, you fail to mention why the conditions in Gaza are so unliveable.

Gaza has been living under a brutal 15-year-long illegal blockade and siege by Israel, preventing basic goods and medicine from entering the occupied territory. In fact, since 2007, Israel has imposed a land, sea and air blockade on the strip. The Epoch Times caught masquerading their biased report as AP and Reuters coverage

Below the short article it states: “The Associated Press and Reuters contributed to this report.” This is false. The article is a shortened, verbatim version of another The Epoch Times article published online written by a staff journalist, Andrew Thornebrooke.[i] I believe this is a serious breach of journalistic ethics, as it misleads readers into believing this was authored by AP or Reuters. As it stands, it appears as if The Epoch Times is masquerading an in-house story as one by the AP and Reuters.
