Your inclusion of Palestinian author Jackie Khalilieh is important, especially in a time where a lot of the media coverage about Palestinians is negative. Furthermore, including Khalilieh in this list will empower Palestinian voices while raising awareness of the challenges faced by Palestinian immigrants in Canada.

I find it alarming that China’s efforts, in the context of Palestine’s international relations, would be framed around promoting “authoritarian government.” The paragraph paints a portrait of a clash of civilians between an ‘authoritarian’ boogey-man and the “Western-led democratic world order.” 

The settlement of CUPW’s defamation lawsuit against B’nai Brith is a victory for all those who stand up in solidarity with Palestinians and should serve as a reminder for the need to continually oppose attempts to silence support for justice.

However, in the last paragraph of your article, you write “Israel captured the West Bank, east Jerusalem and Gaza Strip in the 1967 Mideast war.” Referring to these territories as “captured” gravely obscures the reality that they are militarily occupied. This is not an opinion but a matter of a settled consensus at the international level, as confirmed by the United Nations Security Council, the International Criminal Court, the International Court of Justice, and the High Contracting Parties to the Fourth Geneva Convention.

The use of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s (IHRA) definition of antisemitism is unchallenged despite its attempt to conflate criticism of Israel’s apartheid policies with antisemitism and silence human rights organizations and pro-Palestinian activists.
