"While Israel may replenish aquifers or move water around a complex system of canals, pipes and reservoirs, it does so while systematically denying Palestinian people the right to water while favouring the swimming pools of illegal Israeli settlers. Israel’s water management is more notable for its racist allocation of water, than its innovation."

In his article, “Shooting down missiles, squeezing water from nothing: Why Israel is the innovation nation,” Tristin Hopper celebrates Israel’s innovative drive, absurdly claiming its ability to extract and source water “out of nothing.”
“Innovative” and “unwittingly creative” are not words I would use to describe Israel’s curtailment and appropriation of Palestinian supply and access to water. As documented by Amnesty International in its 2017 report “The Occupation of War,” Israel prevents Palestinians in the occupied territories from constructing water infrastructure, drilling new water wells, and installing pumps in addition to being denied access to the Jordan River and fresh-water springs.[1] While Israel may replenish aquifers or move water around a complex system of canals, pipes and reservoirs, it does so while systematically denying Palestinian people the right to water while favouring the swimming pools of illegal Israeli settlers. Israel’s water management is more notable for its racist allocation of water, than its innovation.
