Dear Tia Goldenberg, Rob Roberts, Carson Jerema and Aileen Donnelly,

I’m writing to you on behalf of Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME, https://www.cjpme.org) to thank you for the article titled "Former leaders of Israel’s security services are speaking out against Netanyahu’s policies," which was posted online by The National Post on September 13, 2023.

We want to thank you for providing readers with a nuanced overview of the criticism of Israel’s judicial overhauls. This has been all too rare in the coverage that has appeared in Canadian media to date. Although more diverse critics could have been added to incorporate a Palestinian perspective, we think it was useful to include a reference to the popular view "that Israel’s rule of the occupied West Bank amounts to apartheid."

We expect that a Palestinian perspective, diverse critical aspects of Israel’s judicial reforms, and the broader impact on Palestinians generally, continue to be covered in future reporting.

Thank you for making these changes. Should you wish, you can contact me at 438-380-5410 for more information.

Sincerely,

Fatima Haidar
