Re: Ottawa to keep sending money to Gaza as groups call for checks against terror funding

"Not funding organizations such as UNRWA would worsen the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, which is dubbed as an “open-air” prison by multiple humanitarian organizations."

Ryan Tumilty’s article about possible “ties between terror groups and the aid groups and non-governmental organizations” fails to contextualize the conditions of Palestinians living under occupation in the West Bank and Gaza. UNRWA is a life-or-death stopgap preventing a full-blown humanitarian catastrophe.

Not only are Palestinians from Gaza in need of these funds because of Israel’s land, air, and sea blockade since 2007, which is illegal under international law, but they need them now more than ever as they brace for food, water, medicine, and fuel shortages as Israel has cut off supplies into Gaza.

Not funding organizations such as UNRWA would worsen the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, which is dubbed as an “open-air” prison by multiple humanitarian organizations.
