Thanks for fairly describing the Pro-Palestine protests happening in the world

"I especially liked how this article covered the pro-Palestine protests in some Canadian cities while also covering the ones in France, Japan, Brazil, Belgium, Denmark, Pakistan, and Sweden. It was nice to see coverage of the protests in Calgary, Halifax, Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal."

Dear Chris Stoodley, Farah Syed, and Elisabetta Bianchini,

I am writing to express my appreciation for the article: “Thousands across Canada protest against Israeli airstrikes in Gaza: ‘End the siege,’ ” published on October 22 on Yahoo News Canada.

While pro-Palestine protests have been going on and falsely covered by some media as pro-Hamas or pro-terrorism, it was a change to read this article fairly depicting them.

These protests are indeed about ending Israel’s occupation and liberating Palestine.

I especially liked how this article covered the pro-Palestine protests in some Canadian cities while also covering the ones in France, Japan, Brazil, Belgium, Denmark, Pakistan, and Sweden. It was nice to see coverage of the protests in Calgary, Halifax, Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal.

I would also like to bring your attention to an inaccuracy in your article, which is the term: “Hamas-run Health Ministry.” Hamas does not run the Health Ministry, and such words contribute to delegitimizing the Palestinian casualties backed by organizations such as the UN. The UN has been using the terms Gaza Ministry of Health.

I, therefore, suggest changing the words “Hams-run Health Ministry” to “Gaza Ministry of Health.”

Thank you, Chris Stoodley and Yahoo News Canada, for a well-balanced coverage of the pro-Palestine protests.

I hope you will continue to cover them in a fair and balanced manner.

Sincerely,

Fatima Haidar,
