"Failing to see it this way and waiting again to react by gathering academics, experts, and diaspora community members “once the war is over” would put us back in the same cycle of deliberately turning a blind eye to damning evidence."

I disagree with Mr. Sandhu’s arguments. The moment is now. We should not wait further to take action. Now, more than ever, is Canada’s opportunity to make decisions that “follow the arc of Dr. Martin Luther King’s moral universe.” Even before October 7, Israel had been violating international humanitarian law. The difference, now, is that it is clearer more than ever that Israel never carried out its actions to stop Hamas from freeing its hostages. It has been targeting hospitals, health centers, ambulances, journalists, civilians, mosques, churches, civilian buildings, and a bakery. It is doing everything in its power to ethnically cleanse Palestinians and seize Gaza. Failing to see it this way and waiting again to react by gathering academics, experts, and diaspora community members “once the war is over” would put us back in the same cycle of deliberately turning a blind eye to damning evidence. Canada should act now and call for a ceasefire and the end of Israel’s occupation. Canada should stop waiting and catch the train of Dr. King’s moral universe once and for all since it has already missed a couple of stops.
