Mayer claims that Jews see the keffiyeh as the modern swastika. It is deeply insulting, not only to Palestinians but to Jewish people as well, that someone would compare a keffiyeh to a swastika. As Palestinians are facing genocide, more and more people have been wearing the keffiyeh to show solidarity with the Palestinian cause, including Jewish people. As racism and the myth of a superior race were the driving force behind the Holocaust, Palestinians, just as were Jewish people, are facing genocide because of this same ideology as manifested in the principles of Ben Gvir’s Jewish Power party. I highly doubt that most Jewish people see the keffiyeh as the modern swastika since some of them wear it to send a clear message of their refusal to let genocide happen again. To claim that they see it as the modern swastika is not only anti-Palestinian racism, but it is a form of antisemitism.
