Need to revise language in article about protest outside MP Bryan May's office

"Ultimately, Israel has been committing a terrible offense to humanity these past eight months in Gaza, resulting in massive demonstrations around the world.  The protestors outside May’s office are yet one more example.  Please do not whitewash Israel’s criminal brutality in your coverage."

Dear Mr. Sebastian-Scott, Ms. Fraser,

Overall, I am appreciative of your coverage of the protest outside the offices of MP Bryan May (“Many urging Cambridge MP Bryan May to call for full arms embargo on Israel.”)  I am appreciative that you gave voice to the protest leaders, highlighting their concerns, and describing their motivations.  However, I have two quick items for important consideration:

  • You have misspelled “Nuseirat” near the end of the article.  Please be so kind as to correct.
  • You have used euphemistic language in the extreme when you describe an attack that left 270 Palestinians civilians dead as a “military operation.”  By any objective measure, an Israeli attack which kills 270 civilians to “rescue” 4 hostages would be considered an inhumane “massacre.”  Please adapt your language appropriately.

Ultimately, Israel has been committing a terrible offense to humanity these past eight months in Gaza, resulting in massive demonstrations around the world.  The protestors outside May’s office are yet one more example.  Please do not whitewash Israel’s criminal brutality in your coverage.

Should you wish to discuss further, you can reach me at 438-380-5410.

Sincerely,

Thomas Woodley, MPA
