"Israel has been illegally occupying the Palestinian territories for decades, in tandem with its settler violence and indiscrimately killing in the occupied West Bank - not to mention the expansion of its ongoing genocide from occupied Gaza to Lebanon. The world must be made aware of Israel’s blatant violations of international law, and it is through articles like yours that people can begin to understand the full scope of Israel’s genocidal agenda in the Middle East."

Dear Ms. Jabakhanji and Ms. Waugh,
I am writing on behalf of Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME) to express my sincere thanks for your recent article titled: “Woman discovers footage of Israel soldier playing her piano in bombed-out home in southern Lebanon” published on November 6, 2024.
Thank you for bringing attention to the story of Julia Ali, who discovered the heartbreaking footage of the Israeli Offensive Forces (IOF) playing her piano amidst the ruins of her bombed home in Khiam, southern Lebanon.
Sadly, this is not an isolated incident. I’ve seen other harrowing videos showing the Israeli Israeli Offensive Forces desecrating the belongings of displaced women in southern Lebanon and the occupied Gaza strip after bombing their homes, even wearing their personal clothing. These violations, so personal and dehumanizing, often go unnoticed in Canadian media.
Israel has been illegally occupying the Palestinian territories for decades, in tandem with its settler violence and indiscrimately killing in the occupied West Bank - not to mention the expansion of its ongoing genocide from occupied Gaza to Lebanon. The world must be made aware of Israel’s blatant violations of international law, and it is through articles like yours that people can begin to understand the full scope of Israel’s genocidal agenda in the Middle East.
As someone from southern Lebanon, I deeply appreciate media platforms like CBC for exposing and documenting Israel's war crimes. The world cannot afford to remain silent while massacres continue to unfold daily—now for over a year.
Warm regards,
Lynn Naji
