Thank you for speaking up on Yves Engler's unlawful detention

"As you rightly point out, Engler’s case is not an isolated incident but part of a larger pattern of state repression against voices advocating for Palestinian human rights."

Dear Mr. Schalk,

On behalf of Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME), I would like to share my thanks for your recent article, “Free Yves Engler: In today’s Canada, offending Zionist influencers is enough to land you behind bars."

Montreal police's decision to arrest and press charges against journalist and author Yves Engler are extremely concerning and represent a dangerous attack on freedom of expression and a troubling abuse of state authority.

As you rightly point out, Engler’s case is not an isolated incident but part of a larger pattern of state repression against voices advocating for Palestinian human rights. I particularly like that your article calls attention to the silence of mainstream Canadian media and politicians on this issue.

CJPME deeply appreciates your ongoing commitment to independent journalism and fearless advocacy for justice. I will be asking my supervisors whether we can share and amplify your article on our socials.

Thank you again for your important work.

In Solidarity,
