"The National Post published an egregious piece parroting Israeli propaganda—dismissing the well-substantiated charge of genocide, the gravest crime under international law. This denial comes despite leading international organizations, including Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, having characterized Israel’s post-October 7 military campaign as genocidal."

The National Post published an egregious piece parroting Israeli propaganda—dismissing the well-substantiated charge of genocide, the gravest crime under international law. This denial comes despite leading international organizations, including Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, having characterized Israel’s post-October 7 military campaign as genocidal.
- The article refers to Hamas as a “transnational terrorist group” without qualification, stating that “seeking to destroy a transnational terrorist group that promises a repeat of the October 7 massacre is not genocide — it’s war.” However, the designation of Hamas as a terrorist organization is far from universally accepted. As shown in this map, only a small number of countries — primarily the United States and its Western allies — classify Hamas as such.
- The article claims that civilian casualties are “predictable” because Hamas “deliberately hides and fights among the civilian population.” These assertions are unsubstantiated and lack credible attribution. UN bodies and human rights groups have repeatedly stated that these claims are uncorroborated and warned that such assertions are used to justify the indiscriminate bombing of Palestinians in densely populated areas.
- The article claims that accusations of genocide are based on out of context comments from Israeli political leaders. This is a blatant misrepresentation. For example, on October 9th, 2023, Yoav Gallant, Israel’s former defense stated on October 9th, 2023: “We are laying a complete siege on Gaza; no electricity—no water—no fuel, everything is closed. We are fighting human animals, and we act accordingly,” explicitly revealing a destructive intent towards the Palestinian people.
- This article serves as a mouthpiece for Israeli propaganda. We encourage you to join us in writing to the National Post to reject such harmful narratives.
