Thanks for the positive review

Dear Editors of rabble.ca and Ms. Zaeem,

On behalf of Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME), I would like to express my sincere thanks for your review of the book When Genocide Wasn’t News.

As one of the authors on the Palestine Media Advocacy Toolkit chapter, I appreciate your recognition of its importance. Our goal was to equip readers with strategies to challenge anti-Palestinian narratives and to build the kind of media-literate, justice-oriented public that this moment in time demands. I’m glad it achieved its mission.

Equally important I believe is your inclusion of constructive criticism. Your observation that the book could have further analyzed the power of corporate consolidation and advertiser influence that underpins media bias is appreciated.

I actually brought it up with Jason Toney, my colleague and one the main editors that spearheaded the project. We both agree that these dynamics warrant deeper public scrutiny. Perhaps even a book of its own somewhere down the line.

Thank you again for reading When Genocide Wasn’t News and writing about it with such care. I hope your review brings the book to new audiences.
