CJPME wins National NewsMedia Council complaint against National Post and Jewish News Syndicate

After more than 6 months, the National NewsMedia Council (NNC) finally announced its decision regarding a formal CJPME complaint about the article, “Palestinian filmmaker of Oscar-winning doc 'No Other Land' arrested for stoning security: reports,” written by the Jewish News Syndicate (JNS). The National NewsMedia Council deemed the complaint “was resolved due to corrective action,” but reiterated its “recommendation” that the Post should provide “more information” for readers about the Jewish News Syndicate when it publishes their wire content.

The Jewish News Syndicate is effectively Israeli propaganda, which the National Post and its parent company, Postmedia, regularly publish throughout Canada. It is listed as news despite its extreme bias and frequent factual errors.

CJPME is alarmed that the National NewsMedia Council has, for the second time, acknowledged that JNS falls short of Canadian journalist standards, but continues to let the National Post off the hook for its role in deliberately spreading bias and misinformation.
