Missing context in story about arrest of pro-Israel demonstrator with Kahanist logo

"Why has it been completely omitted that Gabriella Bodis is wearing a sweater emblazoned with the insignia of a group that Canada deems a terrorist organization (see: Kahane Chai — though it seems the sweater might specifically be for the Jewish Defense League, which the FBI considers a terrorist organization and is part of the Kahanist movement)?"

Dear Nick Westoll and CityNews Toronto Editors,

I'm writing on behalf of Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East to express alarm about your recent story, "Toronto woman charged after allegedly producing bottle with ‘suspected hazardous chemical’ during demonstration."

Why has it been completely omitted that Gabriella Bodis is wearing a sweater emblazoned with the insignia of a group that Canada deems a terrorist organization (see: Kahane Chai — though it seems the sweater might specifically be for the Jewish Defense League, which the FBI considers a terrorist organization and is part of the Kahanist movement)?

Journalist Samira Mohyeddin filmed the incident and shared it on social media. It shows Bodis not merely threatening "demonstrators," but threatening pro-Palestine supporters while wearing the apparel of a Jewish supremacist terrorist organization.

I strongly encourage you to include all of this essential context. I hope the reason for its current exclusion is simply that the information was not known to you, but the reference to demonstrations without specifying their intent is odd. To exclude this context deliberately is a clear violation of journalistic standards, and I hope you will promptly resolve the matter.

Regards,

Jason Toney
