Is there really a ceasefire in Gaza?

I am concerned about the words that CBC uses in this and other reports to describe the status of the ceasefire that began on October 10. Rarely is any information provided to describe the ways in which the ceasefire has been violated since it began on October 10.

Dear Ms. Young and Mr. Boshra,

I am writing on behalf of Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME) regarding the World Report news segment that was aired on November 11, 2025. The segment that I am referring to is the report re: the meeting that is being hosted by Foreign Affairs Minister Anand with her foreign affairs counterparts this week in Niagara-on-the-Lake and the reference to the ‘tenuous’ ceasefire in Gaza.

I am concerned about the words that CBC uses in this and other reports to describe the status of the ceasefire that began on October 10. Rarely is any information provided to describe the ways in which the ceasefire has been violated since it began on October 10. Most readers would be unaware that Israel has violated the ceasefire almost daily by halting or limiting the aid allowed into Gaza and by airstrikes, artillery and direct shootings on Gaza. Their attacks are reported to have killed at least 242 Palestinians and injured 622.

I urge you in future reports to include accurate context and information about the ceasefire violations so that Canadians can realize that the ceasefire is essentially non-existent as demonstrated by Israel’s actions in Gaza.

Sincerely,

Debbie Hubbard
