Of particular note, the article draws on perspectives from the New Brunswick chapter of Independent Jewish Voices and CJPME, demonstrating the solidarity of Jewish allies and other activists and advocates for Palestinians, and more broadly, for peace and justice in the Middle East.
Dear NB Media Co-op editorial newsroom,
I’m writing on behalf of Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME, https://www.cjpme.org) to express appreciation about the article titled “Calls for Palestinian self-determination, right to return at Nakba Day event in Moncton” posted on May 19, 2026.
NB Media Co-op deserves thanks for this informative news piece.
The article acknowledges the impact of the Nakba on Palestinians, highlighting that the Nakba is ongoing, and that Palestinians continue to be denied the legal right to return to their land and properties. In linking the Nakba to the ongoing actions of Israel against Palestinians - such as “lethal violence, demolitions of their homes and villages, apartheid policies, imprisonment in the military prison system, torture, and the denial of basic human rights” - the article helps the reader better understand the ongoing consequences of the Nakba. By pointing out the federal government’s continued political support to Israel, as well as that some Canadians’ “donations finance Palestinian dispossession and death” through Zionist charities based in Canada, the article demonstrates how Canada is complicit in the ongoing genocide against Palestinians.
Of particular note, the article draws on perspectives from the New Brunswick chapter of Independent Jewish Voices and CJPME, demonstrating the solidarity of Jewish allies and other activists and advocates for Palestinians, and more broadly, for peace and justice in the Middle East.
I encourage the outlet to continue to draw attention to perspectives and issues that are often sidelined in Canadian mainstream media.
Sincerely,
Alison Jenkins
