Dear CBC editorial newsroom and Ms. Thompson,

I am writing to you on behalf of Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME) to express our thanks for your recent article “Despite change to lobbying rules, foreign governments and groups still funding MP travel.”

I appreciate that your article includes a section on the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) given how polarized discussions around Israel-related advocacy can become.

One aspect that may warrant further investigation is the role of Exigent and parliamentary travel sponsorships. At least one of the MP trips referenced toward the end of the article appears to have involved sponsorship connected to Exigent. 

CJPME just released a report on the threat of Israeli foreign influence, interference, and transnational repression in Canada. We have found instances of the Israeli state, via intermediaries within targeted countries, organizing trips for politicians and journalists to share an Israeli point of view. The Exigent foundation being one of them.
