We’re living in a new world of deliberate inversions—where lies are presented as truth and people elected to serve the people instead serve themselves. In a world of Tulsi Gabbards, it was comforting to see Canadian MP Steven Guilbeault resign in an unambiguous act of political protest to condemn Prime Minister Mark Carney's government for "backsliding" on climate commitments.
Re: "The Curious Absence of Nuclear Weapons in Iran"
Former Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard is the latest in a string of women to be pushed out of the Trump administration in 2026. While Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem and Attorney General Pam Bondi were fired directly by Trump following very public controversies regarding their respective job performance, Gabbard quietly resigned citing a family health crisis.
But not before she marched into a Congressional hearing to do a complete about-face and toe the White House’s line on Iran. Perhaps the Trump administration is hoping we will forget that Gabbard, once an outspoken opponent of foreign intervention, told congress just two months ago that U.S. intelligence agencies had concluded Iran was not building nuclear weapons.
Gabbard knows that the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, has said there is no evidence that Iran is currently building a nuclear bomb. We all know it. And yet, it doesn’t seem to be enough that they know, and we know, and they know that we know to stop these shameless people from making obviously false statements under oath.
From J.D. Vance to Tulsi Gabbard, we’ve seen critic after critic of Trump and his policies bend the knee in manners that are difficult to reconcile with their previously held positions. It’s not unlike Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney’s reversal on climate action. Except in his case, Carney hasn't simply changed his statements—he has systematically undone the climate legacy of his predecessor while arguing that this actually is climate action, just of a different, more "pragmatic" kind.
