It is also important to note that when "Israel says its strikes are aimed at stopping imminent attacks by Hamas and other militants.” it remains a war crime and a crime against humanity to kill unarmed civilians. There is zero justification for Israel’s behaviour.
To City News Calgary,
I am writing on behalf of Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME) to thank you for your broadcast which aired on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 10:21p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
Leading the article with the perspective of a Palestinian woman in Gaza is much appreciated and rare in our current media landscape. It is also vitally important that victims are duly honored in news reporting. It is refreshing to hear the truth spoken about the fake ceasefire that has not made a whit of difference for Palestinians. In fact, this news segment would be relevant for every day in Gaza since the fake ceasefire was announced.
That being said, I have a note of constructive criticism for the report's producers and newsroom editors. The end of the report repeats Israeli claims without any skepticism or any evidence provided. Israel has generated a massive amount of lies and disinformation over its entire history but especially the last two and a half years. Any Israeli claim published by a media outlet should be done with emphasis on the fact it is alleged and not supported by evidence. This is unfortunately the pattern Israel itself has demonstrated to their own detriment.
I would recommend that in future reporting this skepticism be made clear to the audience.
It is also important to note that when "Israel says its strikes are aimed at stopping imminent attacks by Hamas and other militants.” it remains a war crime and a crime against humanity to kill unarmed civilians. There is zero justification for Israel’s behaviour.
Thank you for reading and I look forward to your response.
