Palestinians are experiencing genocide, not something "marvelous"

For a non-Palestinian Canadian to suggest that what is happening in Palestine is ‘marvelous’ does not speak to the history or current reality of Palestinians living there.  This reality is reflected in November 2025, when Palestinian Christians, launched their document: “Kairos Palestine II: A Moment of Truth: Faith in a Time of Genocide”.

I am writing on behalf of Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME) regarding a I am writing on behalf of Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME) regarding a broadcast that aired on July 27 2026.  At 9:30:01, the broadcast says:“Marvelous things have been taking place in Palestine and have been for many years. God is working for the complete restoration of his people, Israel..”

For a non-Palestinian Canadian to suggest that what is happening in Palestine is ‘marvelous’ does not speak to the history or current reality of Palestinians living there.  This reality is reflected in November 2025, when Palestinian Christians, launched their document: “Kairos Palestine II: A Moment of Truth: Faith in a Time of Genocide”.  

Here are some words from their document: "We live now in a time of genocide, ethnic cleansing and forced displacement unfolding before the eyes of the world. This moment demands from us a new stand, one unlike any before it…We renew our message of faith, hope, and love — offering a faith-inspired vision for the time after genocide."  At the end of their document, they call upon churches and Christians everywhere to reject injustice and apartheid, and to work courageously for a just and lasting peace. Ethnic cleansing, displacement and genocide does not sound like something that is “marvelous’ or that should be celebrated.

I appreciate that the broadcast was created and sponsored by the People's Gospel Hour in Halifax. However, it raises concerns over the kind of oversight your organization has in terms of what is shared on your radio station. 

I ask that you provide me with a response of your standards that led your staff into accepting this program. 

At the very least, I would hope that your future news reports provide factual reporting and diverse perspectives that share stories of the oppression and injustices that Palestinians have endured for years.
