Metro Morning August 18

"Ongoing in the real world translates to almost three years of daily killing, starvation, torture and destruction. These word choices minimize the monstrous history of Israel’s cruelty toward the Palestinian people."

To Metro Morning,

I am writing regarding your interview on Metro Morning with Bob Rae, hosted by Chris Glover, which aired August 18, 2026.

In the opening introduction to the interview Chris Glover says the UN Commission of Inquiry “accused” Israel of deliberately targeting children. The UN’s findings (https://news.un.org/en/story/2026/06/1167790) are based on research and verifiable evidence. They are not “accusations”. To call them such  casts doubt on their veracity. This in turn creates some confusion for the listener, which serves Israeli interests.

The introduction also obscures the asymmetrical nature of the conflict by referring to Oct 7, 2023 (a single day) as a “brutal attack” while glossing over the Israeli genocide as an “ongoing assault”. Ongoing in the real world translates to almost three years of daily killing, starvation, torture and destruction. These word choices minimize the monstrous history of Israel’s cruelty toward the Palestinian people.

Will Metro Morning correct this distorted framing in future reports on this issue?

Thank you for reading and I look forward to your response.
