The rationale for the kite-flying ban? Kites make Israeli settlers living nearby feel threatened. Although none of the home-made kites that have sparked Netanyahu’s ban by drifting over Israeli airspace have carried incendiary devices or explosives of any kind, they might have. Israel would have us believe that even Palestinian children at play are dangerous terrorists.
Your report on City Edmonton (CKEM) Monday, August 31, 2026, illustrates the absurd cruelty of the Israeli government’s ongoing attempts to ethnically cleans Palestinians trying to survive in the ruins of Gaza.
Benjamin Netanyahu now threatens to assassinate Gazan children who violate his recent ban on kite flying in the Israeli occupied territory. To my knowledge, the only other government that has ever banned kite flying is the Taliban in Afghanistan. Even the Taliban did not propose capital punishment for such recreational activity.
Absurd as it seems, Netanyahu’s threat needs to be taken seriously. In its recent invasion of Gaza, Israel has already murdered more than 72,000 Palestinians, 20,000 of whom children, while destroying their schools, hospitals, playgrounds and just about everything else that would sustain human life in the territory it illegally occupies.
The rationale for the kite-flying ban? Kites make Israeli settlers living nearby feel threatened. Although none of the home-made kites that have sparked Netanyahu’s ban by drifting over Israeli airspace have carried incendiary devices or explosives of any kind, they might have. Your reporting should not give credence to such racist fantasies.
