Thank You for Drawing Attention to White Nationalist Group Spreading Hate on School Campus

It is unfortunate that the University’s administration is not brave enough to stand up for its students.

Dear Winnipeg Free Press,

I am writing to you on behalf of Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East to express our gratitude for your balanced article on students at University of Manitoba calling on school administration to ban a far-right group from campus after posters promoting mass deportations were found.

In addition to accurately labelling the Dominion Society of Canada a white nationalist group, you have outlined their mission to return Canada to a predominantly European, Christian, bicultural (English and French) nation through mass deportation and the revocation of permanent residencies of millions of people, including temporary foreign workers, permanent residents and people born in Canada to non-Canadian citizens.

Your article makes it very clear that this group is racist and is actively promoting violating the rights of their fellow citizens and community members in order to achieve their goals—not unlike what we have seen happening with ICE in the United States.

We also appreciate the space provided for students from various ethnic backgrounds, as well as the president of the University of Manitoba’s Students’ Union to give their perspectives on how the actions of this hate group are impacting their lives and how they want their school to deal with it.

It is unfortunate that the University’s administration is not brave enough to stand up for its students.

In solidarity,

Nikki Mutch
