I encourage CBC to continue to draw attention to Palestinian voices, perspectives and issues that are often sidelined in Canadian mainstream media.
To Yasmine Hassan and Basem Boshra,
I’m writing on behalf of Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME, https://www.cjpme.org) to express appreciation for the article “3 years after the war began, Gaza is slowly moving beyond survival mode” published today.
Both the journalist and the outlet deserve thanks for this balanced, detailed and fair article that marks the sombre anniversary of October 7, 2023.
The piece humanizes the suffering and struggles of Palestinians in the aftermath of October 7th, highlighting challenges related to basic human rights to safe shelter, and access to nutritious food and education, while also acknowledging that the Hamas-led attack on Israel that “claimed the lives of 1,200 people, with 251 hostages in Gaza, according to Israeli tallies”.
I encourage CBC to continue to draw attention to Palestinian voices, perspectives and issues that are often sidelined in Canadian mainstream media.
Sincerely,
Alison Jenkins
