On behalf of Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME), I am writing to express appreciation for your October 2 news article, Rallies at MP’s office blast proposed labour laws, support Palestine.
We appreciated your reporting on the protest in Thunder Bay, a protest that is part of a national campaign demanding that Canada impose a full, immediate embargo on Israel. The Arms Embargo Now campaign in Canada was officially launched in May 2024 by a coalition of civil society organizations (including unions, faith communities and Palestinian Solidarity groups).
Your article clearly illustrated the hypocrisy of messaging that Canada is sending by saying we support a two-State solution. Yet, we continue to supply arms to Israel who is oppressing and displacing the Palestinian people making the aspiration of a two-State solution virtually impossible
