I am writing on behalf of Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME) regarding the article “When criticism becomes hate, who draws the line” by Sameen Jaffri published on October 5th in the Medium.
I want to thank you for this intelligent and insightful article which comes at a critical time when we see so much of the mainstream media attempting to weaponize anti-semitism to suppress any discussion on Palestine and distract Canadians from the ongoing and ugly genocide in Gaza and the West Bank.
This article has a welcome balance and depth that is unfortunately lacking in the media on this issue. It makes very valid points that all lead to the dangers in our government adopting the IHRA definition of anti semitism alongside the new recognition of anti Zionism as an expression of anti semitism. As you point out this is incorrect and very dangerous. We thank you for your thoughtfulness and encourage you to keep up the good work!
