Thank you for a balanced and indepth article

Your article is timely given that Canadians who have advocated for stronger sanctions against Israel are waiting to see if the Canadian government acts on their September 8 commitment to “…take steps… to enforce targeted measures against settlements and those who facilitate them or profit from them”. Let’s hope that Canada and Newfoundland have the moral courage similar to that of Norway and the KLP pension fund.

Dear Mr. Brake and Ms. Pecoskie,

On behalf of Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME), I am writing to express appreciation for the October 9 news article, N.L’s offshore oil could help bankroll a company linked to Israel’s illegal occupation of Palestine, that was published online by both the Independent and the Hamilton Spectator.

Thank you for an article that had both depth and balance. It clearly illustrated why the Canadian and Newfoundland governments need to stop Ithaca’s acquisition of Suncor’s stakes in Newfoundland and Labrador’s oil sector. Not only did you include a diversity of voices speaking out against the purchase but you also provided information from the United Nations that supported their concerns. You also offered space for the provincial and federal governments and Delak leadership to respond. Their silence speaks volumes.

Thank you again for this excellent piece of journalism.

Sincerely,
