Winnipeg Free Press reports on Canadian activists and their work in the occupied West Bank

We expect that the article will be attacked by pro-Israel groups/individuals who would prefer that the language of occupation remain unspoken - so some strong letters in support will help the newspaper hold its ground.

(Note: Please do not copy and paste the material below as the content to your message to the media - put all comments in your own words):

On August 15, John Longhurst of the Winnipeg Free Press published an article centered on two Winnipeggers who taught a conflict-resolution course in the West Bank.  Longhurst, a writer on the religion and spirituality beat, let Karen Ridd and Izzy Hawamda, the two Winnipeg-based teachers, speak openly about their view of life under occupation for Palestinians.  Please thank Longhurst and the Winnipeg Free Press for the frank perspective on what Palestinians face.

We expect that the article will be attacked by pro-Israel groups/individuals who would prefer that the language of occupation remain unspoken - so some strong letters in support will help the newspaper hold its ground.  Also, we want to encourage journalists to get comfortable using the language of occupation, and covering stories at address Israel's oppression.
