Please join us in defending Global News for their strong interview with Professor Atalia Omer about the ongoing events in Gaza. Global News has come under fierce attack from Honest Reporting Canada (HRC), a pro-Israel organization, for simply providing a larger context about what is currently happening in Gaza.

HRC took issue with Omer’s appropriate and important comment that Hamas’s decisions are an “expression of people who have been occupied & oppressed for over 75 years.” HRC is also attacking the host for not “challenging” Omer. Good journalism should provide context — this is a basic and uncontroversial journalistic principle. Global News succeeded in this regard and deserves thanks. Pro-Israel lobby groups want the context to be hidden, but it is important we fight this form of bias. All too often, context is left out in coverage of Palestine. Please join us in encouraging this essential aspect of reporting by writing to Sonia Verma, the Editor-in-Chief of Global News.
